Formed in 1968 the volunteer-driven community organisation gives boys and girls, young people, and adults from all backgrounds access to play and participate in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Beyond the pitch, the Club helps to support a strong community spirit through social connections, promoting physical and mental wellbeing and developing important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership. The club currently supports over 500 members across underage and adult teams, and this funding will enable the Club to support balanced athletic development across all teams while advancing gender equality in sport.
21 years in operation Blessington Community First Responders Unit (BCFRU) is a group of 16 volunteers who work alongside the National Ambulance Service and attend patients who require medical assistance.
Covering a radius of 10km from Blessington and around the local community the BCFRU operates a 24/7 service where possible and also offers CPR training to many members and groups within the community.
This funding from the Cairn Community Fund Blessington will enable the Unit to increase the number of defibrillators around the local area including in new and upcoming housing developments.
The €2,500 funding presented to Blessington Foróige Neurodivergent Clubs will help to build visibility in the community for neurodivergent children, by working with groups to create artwork, and to facilitate a gallery to permanently display their work and in doing so helping to build confidence, community and a real sense of belonging.
The Club for neurodivergent children aged between 10 and 12 meets every Wednesday and volunteers work closely with the children in this supportive environment.
“We received so many deserving applications from the community and thanks all those who took the time to apply. The four recipients of the Cairn Community Fund Blessington grants go to four very inspiring local projects and groups, all with different ways of bringing people together and helping to make great impact in their community. These innovative groups and projects ticked all the boxes in building on the huge impact they already had in their community and with this funding continuing to create real and lasting benefits for the Blessington community. Congratulations to all”.
