Cairn Homes Plc is pleased to announce that it has been awarded London Stock Exchange’s Green Economy Mark accreditation.

The Green Economy Mark recognises London-listed equity issuers that generate over 50% of their total revenue from environmentally positive goods, products and services. According to London Stock Exchange research, on average Green Economy Mark companies outperform the FTSE All-Share Index, making Cairn part of a world-class peer group.

The accreditation is an affirmation of Cairn’s strong commitment to responsible and sustainable development. Building A-rated homes in a sustainable way is at the core of Cairn’s business, utilising innovative and modern methods of construction. We are consistently seeking to improve the places we are creating, with a focus on investing in areas such as community cohesion, biodiversity, health, safety and wellbeing.

Cairn is dedicated to providing considered, well-designed and healthy spaces that improve quality of life – that’s why over the last year the Company sold 1,080 A-rated new homes, developed over 17 acres of parks and public realm alongside these new homes, created and delivered six new playgrounds and have engaged in the Low Carbon pledge. As an organisation we believe in making a positive contribution to the environmental quality of the communities in which we work and the environment as a whole, and that is why we are proud Cairn has been recognised by the London Stock Exchange.

Michael Stanley, CEO and Co-Founder, commented:

“We are delighted that our work in creating sustainable communities has been recognised by the London Stock Exchange through the Green Economy Accreditation. At the heart of Cairn’s culture is an absolute commitment to the environment in which we operate. We build new homes and communities that are energy efficient, environmentally friendly and contribute to biodiversity across the country.

“We have made huge strides in the last year to fully align all of our sustainable development activities with our values, but this is by no means the end. and We will be even more ambitious in our future developments, including Graydon in Newcastle and Archers Wood in Delgany, where we will deliver pedestrian and cycle route greenways, open spaces, playgrounds and amenity facilities including sports pitches. This highlights our emphasis on placemaking and the focus we place on public realm and landscape, all of which contribute positively to the communities in which we operate”
