Naas is the perfect location for all the family – and to prove it, we’ve summed up the best days out for each family member!

When it comes to finding a location for your future home, it’s important to think of the needs of the whole family. We’re not just talking about the practical things, such as transport links, commuting, schools and work, but also the fun stuff – the sports and leisure amenities that cater to every member of the family. Naas, the location of our Elsmore development, satisfies both the practical needs and the fun stuff wants of all the family – as our guide to days out proves!

For the kids (and big kids)

Located in nearby Prosperous, Kildare Maze features Leinster’s largest hedge maze and a number of other activities for all the family. The hedge maze was established
in the late 1990s and opened to the public in 2000, before being developed to include other attractions in 2012. Today, Kildare Maze offers a number of activities such as c
razy golf, zip wire, adventure trail, picnic area, sand pit and all-weather wooden maze for younger visitors. Bring a picnic and make a day of it; this is good family fun at its very best. See www.thekildaremaze.comfor more.

For the teens

Teens are hard to impress with family days out, but the sheer scale of activities around Blessington Lakes (just 13km from Naas) will persuade even the moodiest of teenagers to shut down the Playstation. Watersports are in abundance, or try one of the adventure companies located beside the Lakes. Kippure Adventure Centre offers a wide range of activities for kids above the age of five and bigger teenagers, including a high ropes course, climbing and abseiling, Sky Trek and a Zip Line. The Bushcraft Survival Camp is perfect for those teens who fancy themselves as the next Bear Grylls. Plus there’s guided mountain walks and archery for the adults, as well as paintball and clay pigeon shooting. See www.adventurewicklow.comfor more.

For the extended family

When it comes to a day out that pleases every generation, you can’t get much better than a day at the races – and when you live in Co Kildare, you’re really in the heart of the action. The closest venue is Naas Racecourse, which hosts flat and national hunt horse racing all year. There are also events of all kinds throughout the year, including family fun days, summer barbeque evenings, live music events and ladies days. Admission tickets cost just €15, and includes a €5 bet. For details on upcoming race days, see naasracecourse.com.

For the sports enthusiast

There’s plenty of golfing fun to be had around Naas, including the iconic K Club, but if you’re looking for something a bit different in the sports arena, check out Abbeyfield Farm, which offers a number of activities, including horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and archery. Experienced guides can take you and the family on a fun trek through the scenic Co Kildare countryside – and can cater for all abilities from beginner to experienced rider. Alternatively, you can test your shooting ability at the state-of-the-art air rifle range, try clay pigeon shooting or give archery a go – this is an ideal day out for groups of sports enthusiasts.
